ALAMOS
Alamos was founded
by silver barons as "Real de los Frailes" in 1685 and once was the capital of the
State of Occidente: the region now conformed by the states of Sonora and Sinaloa.
Recently named one of the few “Pueblos Magicos” of México, Alamos is now one of
Sonora's premier tourist destinations for those seeking relaxation, hunting, fishing
or enjoy birdwatching.. With a fairly distinct ecosystem, the area
surrounding Alamos is rich in game, such as deer, dove, quail and other species.
Freshwater fishing is excellent in nearby rivers, and in either "El Mocutzarit Dam"
or "El Veranito Dam", both with abundant large-mouth bass, bluegill and catfish.
If your special interest is in handicrafts, Alamos is a great place to find unique
hand-carved wooden pieces and numerous items crafted in tin, glass, silver and wrought
iron. Alamos is also known the Mexican Jumping Bean Capital of the World so jumping
beans are abundant during season.
Purísima Concepción
Church

Alamos.
